Health & Safety

Our Commitment to Health & Safety

At Advanced Glass, health and safety isn’t a box to tick — it’s a proactive, embedded culture that runs from pre-construction right through to project completion.

We believe that a safe site is a productive site, and we make it our responsibility to protect our workforce, supply chain, and the general public throughout every stage of our façade and glazing projects.

Health & Safety From Day One

Our safety-first approach begins at design stage. We consider risks before works even start on site, planning every element to reduce hazards associated with:

  • Manual handling and lifting — including the weight and handling of large glass units and framing systems
  • Working at height — with strict procedures and edge protection in place
  • Access planning — minimising risks with MEWPs, scaffold interfaces and exclusion zones

We work collaboratively with main contractors to align with their Construction Phase Health & Safety Plans and ensure we are contributing to the overall safety strategy on site.

Designing Out Risk

Our in-house design team plays a vital role in reducing on-site risk by designing solutions that are:

  • Modularised or pre-assembled where possible
  • Lighter in weight without compromising performance
  • Easy to install using mechanical lifting equipment, such as vacuum lifters and cranes
  • Designed for safe access and installation, taking into account sequencing, tolerance, and logistics

Where heavier elements are required — such as large IGUs or fire-rated glazing — we factor in appropriate lifting plans, equipment, and exclusion zones to prevent manual strain and accidents.

Independent Safety Oversight

We work closely with Crescentia Consulting, an independent health & safety consultancy, to ensure we remain compliant and continually improve. Crescentia conducts regular unannounced safety inspections across all of our sites and issues detailed reports with photos, actions, and benchmarking.

This independent oversight supports:

  • A culture of accountability
  • External verification of our site standards
  • Regular toolbox talks and safety briefings tailored to live conditions

Working Towards Zero Harm

We believe that zero harm is achievable — but only with planning, vigilance, and a continuous improvement mindset. That’s why we:

  • Hold regular internal reviews of safety performance
  • Embrace lessons learned across projects
  • Invest in training, certifications, and new technology
  • Encourage staff and supply chain partners to raise concerns without fear

Frequently Asked Questions

Aluminium windows offer durability, low maintenance, excellent thermal efficiency, and modern aesthetics, making them ideal for commercial applications.

Yes, modern aluminium windows feature thermal break technology to improve insulation, achieving low U-values meeting Part L building regulations and often exceeding it.

Options include double or triple glazing, solar control glass, acoustic glass, laminated safety glass, and enhanced security glass, depending on performance needs.

Yes, commercial aluminium windows can be PAS 24 certified and meet Secured by Design standards with multi-point locking systems with reinforced frames.

When properly maintained, aluminium windows can last 30 – 40 years, due to their corrosion resistance and high-quality powder-coated finishes.

Yes, they are available in a wide range of RAL colours, anodised finishes, and different configurations, including casement, tilt-and-turn, and sliding options.

Aluminium windows are designed to withstand extreme weather conditions, with high wind load resistance and water-tightness ratings to ensure long-term performance.

Minimal maintenance is needed – just the occasional cleaning and lubrication of moving parts is required to help ensure smooth operation and longevity.

Yes, aluminium is up to 100% recyclable, and many modern aluminium window systems use recycled materials, supporting sustainable building practices.

Lead times vary depending on customisation and project size, but standard windows typically take 12 – 16 weeks for design, manufacturing and delivery.
